ThermoFusion offers unique services in atmospheric brazing, an alternative to vacuum brazing. We can braze in environments of argon, nitrogen, dry hydrogen and wet hydrogen. We can braze at either atmospheric pressure or in a partial vacuum.
Dry hydrogen brazing is especially suited for oxygen-free copper, stainless steel and ceramic. We can braze in either atmospheric pressure or in vacuum-partial pressure. Brazing in partial pressure is ideally suited for non-oxygen free copper.
Wet hydrogen brazing (and wet hydrogen treatments) assist in growing a protective layer on materials such as kovar or stainless steel.
Brazing in nitrogen or argon is particularly useful. In vacuum partial pressure it is ideal for brazing materials where copper braze filler material is specified, as it keeps the pressure above the vapor pressure of the copper, but still allows the vacuum to assist in the brazing of the parts. It is also used when brazing nickel alloys, Monel, titanium and zirconium alloys. At full atmospheric pressure, brazing in nitrogen or argon is used for brazing copper-zinc, beryllium copper and brass.
