Brazing
A method of joining two pieces of metal and ceramics together with a filler metal at temperatures above 800F.
Bright Annealing
Annealing, or softening of materials, at ThermoFusion can be accomplished in a variety of atmospheres or vacuum in order to provide the highest quality part. Hydrogen, nitrogen, vacuum, or air are chosen to ensure a proper anneal with the best quality surface finish at the most reasonable price.
Carburizing
Hardens surface by diffusing carbon into the steel to form a high carbon surface.
Carbon Restoration
Replaces the carbon lost condition in the surface from previous processing.
Carbonitriding
The process of carburizing or adding carbon + nitrogen into the surface of parts to increase its wear resistance without causing it to be brittle is completed at ThermoFusion on a daily basis. ThermoFusion utilizes the most advanced carbon control equipment and trained personnel to ensue repeatability and quality. Experienced operators and our metallurgical engineer are available to discuss any specific requirements. ThermoFusion can support customers through designing systems to minimize distortion and aid in material selection or case depth requirements.
Neutral Hardening
Heating components above their phase transformation temp and then quenching in oil or brine.
Gas Nitriding
Case hardening process whereby nitrogen is introduced into the surface.
Nitrowear
Higher surface hardness resistance to abrasion and a high fatigue strength.
Homogenizing
A diffusion treatment carried out at high temperature.
Hydrogen Brazing
Reduces the oxides of many metals during brazing. Parts are metallurgically bonded.
Hydrogen Heat Treating
Avoids oxidation and/or decarburization during heat treating process.
Induction Brazing
The brazing heat is generated by electromagnetic induction.
Induction Hardening
A hardening process in which the part is heated by electromagnetic induction.
Aluminum DIP Brazing
A low distortion brazing process for Aluminum.
Normalizing
Relieving internal stresses refine grain size and improve mechanical properties.
Precipitation and Age Hardening
Hardening of metals caused by the precipitation of a constituent from supersaturated solid solution.
Production Copper Brazing
Less expensive method of brazing. Brazing flux is not required.
Sand or Glassbead Blasting
Cleans and prepares surfaces (removes scale after heat treat).
Solution Treating
Heats base metal to suitable temp, holds it at that temp long enough to cause one or more constituents to enter into solid solution.
Spheroidzing
Steel is heated until its carbide phases become relatively spherical.
Stress Relieving
Reduces distortions caused by machining or welding.
Straightening
Bowing and distortion can be removed via straightening.
Cryogenic Treating
Produces greater stability and wear resistance.
Tempering
Retreating hardened steel to reduce brittleness and improve ductility.
Tool and Die Hardening
TFI has equipment to process all forms of tool and die materials.
Vacuum Brazing
We use state of art furnaces to achive strongest bonding, metal joining, and heat treating.
Aluminum Heat Treating
Drop bottom furnace quenching for optimum physical properties and Polymer quench for lower distortion.
