TFI has recently purchased some new capital equipment and personnel to help serve our growing client’s requirements.

endoWe have installed a new Endothermic Gas Generator manufactured by Thermal Dynamix. This unit will not only help TFI in our quest to go “Green” but will also provide a process gas that has superior quality over conventional type gas generators. We now have the capability to match our process gas demand to our output. As you all know natural gas has been on the upward climb. This also helps us control our costs to our clientele. No one likes constant rate hikes.  The process gas control is monitored and adjusted automatically vs. a conventional type generator that not only needs to be monitored but also adjusted manually. So what does this mean to you? A superior process gas gives you more accurate case depths and hardness’ at stable cost.

Our next piece is a brand new Varian Leak Detector. We have now doubled our leak testing capacity. In case you are wondering it is VS PRO 2 model. Capable of giving you a plot of the testing performed on your assembly. Pumps into 12 scale!  Amazing how small and compact this leak tester is. Hats off to Varian, this one is far better than any of the other models we have demoed, and we tried them all. Double capacity gives you a faster turn around and, with our trained technical staff you can be reassured the testing is done right the first time.

Some old but new news to some you may be the addition of our new compact Hydrogen Bell Furnace. Smaller size, very cost and energy efficient to operate. If you are paying a premium for a small batch, let us quote it for you. I’m sure we can save you a ton! We have also added two new members to our growing technical staff, Bob LeClair and Glen Ottinger. See their bio’s listed below.

Glen Ottinger has recently joined ThermoFusion as a Quality Engineer / Materials Engineer.  Glen graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering.  His previous work experience includes working as a Quality Control Technician in the stainless steel investment casting industry.  He has also spent time with IBM in their Microelectronics Division as a Raw Materials Process Engineer.  Glen has made the move from the East Coast and joined the team here at ThermoFusion

ThermoFusion announces the addition to its technical staff, Bob LeClair.  Bob brings 30 years of high tech manufacturing experience to our team. His expertise is in the design and manufacture of electron beam devices in the microwave tube industry.  During the past 15 years he has become an industry leader in design engineering and manufacture of hermetically sealed high voltage assemblies using metallized ceramics.  At ThermoFusion Bob will manage the “Advanced Products Group”.  Bob has managed as Principal Investigator six successful Department of Energy grants; see below.

DOE - SBIR Contracts

• 1997- 1998, Phase I  Contract # DE-FG03-97ER82422              Ultra-Low-Cost Driver TWT for SLAC, NLC Klystron.
• 1998 -2000, Phase II Contract # DE-FG03-97ER82422              Ultra-Low-Cost Driver TWT for SLAC, NLC Klystron.
• 2000 – 2001, Phase I Contract # DE-FG03-00ER83039            Ultra Low Cost Driver TWT’s For Future Accelerator Injection Systems.
• 2001 – 2003, Phase II Contract # DE-FG03-00ER83039            Ultra Low Cost Driver TWT’s For Future Accelerator Injection Systems.
• 2004 – 2005, Phase I Contract # DE-FG02-04ER83992             Development and Testing of a Demountable Sheet Electron Beam Analyzer with Fluorescent Screen
• 2006 to 2007, Phase II Contract # DE-FG02ER83992                Development and Testing of a Demountable Sheet Electron Beam Analyzer with Fluorescent Screen

We have also partnered with a client on a brazing project that netted 2300 hermetically sealed braze joints on one assembly . . . .

TFI has also spawned a whole new crew to run our Aluminum Dip Braze operation. Our senior metallurgist Bob Adams, is now directly overseeing this aspect of our processing. Bob brings the quality of that operation to a whole new level.

TFI’s technical staff now has a growing number of key alliances formed with approved outside vendors to produce quality turn-key assemblies. Whether it’s brazed, soldered, welded, plated, painted, formed, metalized ceramic, we have the knowledge and experience to get your project started in the right direction the first time.
